Tank Mashed With Knot Tie

I have been searching and searching for the perfect tie knot pattern that I could use on a tank top. As soon as I saw that designers, Patterns For Pirates had created a Favorite Tee Bundle – I just KNEW this would be what I had been looking for. The mash was super easy.

First… grab your patterns. For this mash you can use the Tank version of the Layer Me Up Shirt  OR the Essential Tank Pattern and Favorite Tee Pattern, some tracing paper, tape, weights, rotary cutter, fabric of choice, and pen/pencil.unnamed-2.jpg

Now, after you have the patterns, cut them to your correct size based upon your measurements. Next you will need to roll out your tracing paper – or freezer paper and begin tracing your Tank pattern first. Now place the Favorite Tee pattern down and before you begin to trace – make sure to align the patterns at the point of the neckband and fold (don’t worry that the shoulder seams won’t match – this won’t affect the fit). And repeat with the back pieces. When tracing your Favorite Tee pattern, don’t forget to mark the appropriate notches and slit.

Please Note: Your Knot Tie pattern piece should be cut based upon the final size used when mashed. For example if you cut your pattern pieces to be a size Medium, your Knot Tie pattern piece should be cut as a size Medium as well.unnamed-1.jpg

Now, to begin sewing, you will follow the Tank pattern (including only the neck and armbands). For the remainder of the sewing you will focus on the Favorite Tee Pattern’s directions beginning at the Knot Tie and assembling at the slit.

Then VOILA! Of course this isn’t the best photo, but I’ll update with a better one soon 😉
