Once I figured out how to perfectly mash a Tank and the Favorite Tee Knot Tie – I thought mashing the Sugar Pie by Patterns For Pirates with the Knot Tie from the Fav Tee Pattern by Patterns for Pirates would be fun for a child. This one will be a tad different from the adult version that I recently posted because the Sugar Pie is a dolman and flairs out a bit towards the bottom.
First… grab your patterns. For this mash you can use the Dolman Shirt Cutline of the Sugar Pie and will also need the Fav Tee Pattern, some tracing paper, tape, weights, rotary cutter, fabric of choice, and pen/pencil.
Now, after you have the patterns, cut them to your correct size based upon your child’s measurements. Next you will need to roll out your tracing paper – or freezer paper and you will first trace the Fav Tee Pattern. Next you will place the Sugar Pie Pattern over top with the necklines meeting – the top of the shoulders should connect at the highest point on the Fav Tee Pattern. (See Photo). Don’t forget to mark your notches and slits.
To begin sewing, you will follow the Sugar Pie Pattern (including only the neckband and optional armbands). Then for the remainder of the sewing you will focus on the Fav Tee Patterns directions beginning at the Knot Tie and assembling at the slit.
Then VOILA! Of course this isn’t the best photo, but I’ll update with a better one soon 😉
