Melissa from Bella Sunshine Designs recently created a pattern for girls, called the Sahara Top and Dress. This dress was SO adorable that I asked Melissa if she would be interested in creating a ladies version…and she said YES! I was STOKED – so as soon as Melissa posted that she was looking for testers, I immediately applied.

The Ladies Sahara Top and Dress has so many options!  It features a scoop neck on the back and a high or low scoop neck for the front; top, tunic, or dress length with the option of sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, short sleeves or sleeveless. All views are made with a lining and clear elastic…

..I’ve sewn a lot of tops and dresses for children but never for an adult or one with a lining or clear elastic. SO let the challenge begin!!

For my tester version, I made a sleeveless dress and shortened it about 3 inches. I wanted the dress to hit right above my knees! And VOILA!unnamed-9.jpg

unnamed-5.jpgAll of the fabric is from Knitpop.  Sara has an amazing selection and the quality is great – if it is able to withstand my kids being rough and rugged, it is number one in my book! A majority of my fabric is bought from Knitpop and there is never any fading or discoloration not to mention the price is very reasonable considering the high quality of the fabric.  She also carries swim, yoga, and even some essentials (including needles and appliques) ! Nothing like one stop shopping!

You can easily mix and match and match your daughter or niece or create a ‘mommy and me’ gift set with the Ladies and Girls version of the Sahara.unnamed-4.jpg
